چکیده
We study the outflow of dust particles on the surface layers of optically thick disks. At the surface of disks around young stars, small dust particles (size . 10 μm) experience stellar radiation pressure support and orbit more slowly than the surrounding gas. The resulting tailwind imparts energy and angular momentum to the dust particles, moving them outward. This outflow occurs in the thin surface layer of the disk that is exposed to starlight, and the outward mass flux is carried primarily by particles of size ∼ 0.1 μm. Beneath the irradiated surface layer, dust particles experience a head-wind, which drives them inward. For the specific case of a minimum-mass-solar-nebula, less than a thousandth of the dust mass experiences outward flow. If the stellar luminosity is 15 times brighter than the sun, however, or if the gas disk mass is as small as ∼ 100M⊕, then the surface outflow can dominate the inward flux in certain radial ranges, leading to the formation of rings or gaps in the dust disks. A substantial fraction of prompt GRB spectra have soft spectral indexes exceeding the maximum allowed by the synchrotron model αmax = −2/3. Some spectra also exhibit very sharp break at Ep, inconsistent with the smooth synchrotron spectra. These facts pose a serious problem for the “optically thin synchrotron” interpretation of the prompt emission. We review various models suggested in order to...

We report the detection of [Ne ii] emission at 12.81μm in four out of the six optically thick dust disks observed as part of the FEPS Spitzer Legacy program. In addition, we detect a H i(7-6) emission line at 12.37μm from the source RX J1852.3-3700. Detections of [Ne ii] lines are favored by low mid–infrared excess emission. Both stellar X–rays and extreme UV (EUV) photons can sufficiently ioni...

At low densities, when radiation of an accreting gas is dynamically unimportant, quasi-spherical non-radiative accretion flow is formed around a compact object. We show that the density of the flow is n ∝ r −1/2. The gas compression is much weaker than the standard Bondi's, n ∝ r −3/2 , because most of the gas does not reach the compact object. It can either circulate indefinitely long or it ca...

A revised and greatly improved version of the 3D continuum radiative transfer code MC3D is presented. It is based on the Monte-Carlo method and solves the radiative transfer problem self-consistently. It is designed for the simulation of dust temperatures in arbitrary geometric configurations and the resulting observables: spectral energy distributions, wavelength-dependent images, and polariza...
